December 2017 Parent Resource Message

The fall semester is almost over!  The last day of fall classes is December 1st.   Finals week for C session courses is:  December 4 - 9, 2017.

This is the last Parent Resource message.  We hope this monthly message has been helpful to you in learning about your student’s transition to ASU.  Since your student has finished their first semester at ASU, we will no longer send messages in their second semester.  As always, we are here to help.  In the spring, please refer your student to our advising office if she/he needs assistance.

Fall Grades are due December 11th.  Soon thereafter final grades will post to your student’s transcript.  The transcript can be viewed via the MyASU page (Grades & Transcripts, Transcripts & Test Scores, Unofficial Transcript).

Academic status reports will be finalized on December 15th.  Students who have a cumulative ASU gpa of 2.0 or higher are considered in good standing.  Students who earn less than a 2.0 ASU cumulative gpa will be placed on academic probation (
https://catalog.asu.edu/retention_standing) If your student is on academic probation after fall 2017, they need to:

  1. Schedule an advising appointment.  This may be a phone appointment for students who are outside of Maricopa County.  We have advisors available during winter break (except on December 25, 26 and January 1.)  Students should call our office to schedule a same day phone appointment (480 965 8563) or come for a walk-in.  Our walk-in schedule is posted daily on our advising webpage:  https://pgs.clas.asu.edu/advising-appointment (students should check the daily schedule before coming for a walk-in session, 6th floor Coor Hall).
  2. Register for UNI 220 (1 credit)-Mindset Connections in spring 2018.
  3. Students on academic probation may need to change their spring schedule.
  4. Students who are on probation may need to repeat courses in which they earned a grade of D or E (https://students.asu.edu/grades).  Students only earn credit once for a course.  Only the higher of the two grades will count in the student’s cumulative gpa calculation.
  5. Students on probation also need to attend the PASS program in January.  More information about this program will be viewable via students’ MyASU page.

Dean’s list

Undergraduate students who earn 12 or more graded semester hours (“A+,” “A,” “A-,” “B+,” “B,” “B-,” “C+,” “C,” “D” or “E”) during a semester in residence at ASU with a GPA of 3.50 or higher are eligible for the Dean’s List. A notation regarding Dean’s List achievement appears on the unofficial transcript the last week in December.
